Is Brexit really happening?

Theresa May promises a different Britain after Brexit | ITV News

source: ITV News

Britain will be a different place after Brexit, the Prime Minister has told ITV News, saying that that's exactly what people voted for in the EU referendum.

Well, what do i think about Brexit? That's a good question. To be honest with you, I think Brexit is a lame excuse for the UK to reduce how much the governor spends. Here's a list on how much:

Cost of EU

  • Gross payment to EU – £17.2bn

  • Net payment to EU – £8.6bn

How are they supposed to remain in the EU; when they spend, roughly,£8.6bn on the cost of EU out of £731bn?

What is Brexit?

Strangely enough, Brexit is a mix between Britain and exit, therefore, making Brexit. It basically means Britain leaving the EU.

Why is Britain leaving the European Union?

According to BBC News: A referendum - a vote in which everyone (or nearly everyone) of voting age can take part - was held on Thursday 23 June, 2016, to decide whether the UK should leave or remain in the European Union. Leave won by 51.9% to 48.1%. The referendum turnout was 71.8%, with more than 30 million people voting. Britain's exact words were "we want our country back" and in my opinion, the UK isn't the UK without the EU. It's the EU citizens that are running it. Most the people in the EU are doctors, teachers, lawyers. If they leave the EU, they are leaving all of that.

Do we know how things will work in the long-term?

No. Negotiations about future relations between the UK and the EU are just beginning. Both sides hope they can agree within six months on the outline of future relations on things like trade, travel and security. If all goes to plan this deal could then be given the go ahead by both sides in time for 29 March 2019. Theresa May delivered a big speech setting out her thoughts on the UK and EU's future relations on 2 March, 2018. Theresa May is informing us that no one will get what they want (go figure) but she is confident a deal can be made.

Is Brexit happening?

The UK government and the main UK opposition party both say Brexit will happen. There are some groups campaigning for Brexit to be halted, but the focus among the UK's elected politicians has been on what relationship the UK has with the EU after Brexit, rather than whether Brexit will happen at all. Nothing is ever certain, but as things stand Britain is leaving the European Union. Yes, reality check, it really is happening, but what I don't understand is why they're making a big fuss about it. It's happening. If you want to change it, change it. If you want to let it prevail, let it happen.

What are the effects of Brexit for EU citizens?

The exact quote from EU citizens are- "Nobody cares about us"

‘We now need to start making preparations to leave the country’ Ekaterina Griffin, university course coordinator, 40, London. German, in the UK for 15 years I’m devastated. If it hadn’t been for my British husband and kids, I would have left a while ago. I felt I owed it to them to wait and see, but not any more. My three red lines have been: The ECJ guaranteeing our rights. This will happen for eight years only, so I will lose any protection just as I get older and starting afresh in Germany is next to impossible. Also, the document states clearly that the UK Parliament has the right to change the law so any guarantees made now can be reversed. Keeping the settled status for life rather than losing it after a period of non-residence. Having come here as a free citizen I find the idea of losing my right of free movement totally unacceptable. My mum being able to join us when she is older. I am an only child and need to be able to look after her should she need and want it. The current proposal is vague as the terms of her coming here are not specified. Will she be eligible for free healthcare? How is “dependent” defined? We now need to start making preparations to leave the country, which hurts me immensely. I am distraught to find after 15 years that my whole life here was built on sand. I am hurt by the lack of solidarity from a lot of British people. Essentially, after 18 heart-breaking months I want our lives back.

Only this quote alone explains the effect of Brexit to other EU citizens. A we can do now is pray and hope.
